Our posters holdings comprise four collections:

Art Posters in Lebanon

Following the Exhibition on ”Art Posters in Lebanon", which was organized by the Steering Committee of the AUB Arts Center and held at the Lee Observatory, AUB, in March 2001, 177 Art Posters were donated to the AUB Libraries, the Archives and Special Collections Department. This collection is digitized and can be browsed through our online Library catalog, as well as through this link.

Political posters

364 Posters were gathered from the walls of the AUB campus, between the 1960s and the 1980s, reflecting a variety of political fractions and beliefs. A great part of the collection covers two main topics: The Palestinian Question, Lebanon and the Lebanese Civil War. This collection is digitized and can be browsed through our Online Library Catalog, as well as through this link.

AUB posters

This growing collection documents (mostly on-campus) academic (conferences, lectures, workshops, centers, etc.) as well as extra-curricular and student activities. It is a testament to the liberal arts education offered at AUB, to the rich scholarly and cultural life of the AUB community, as well as to the engagement of the AUB community with the cultural, literary, scientific and political worlds of the region both within and beyond the campus walls.

Arab Cinema

This collection of over 1,850 posters and 1,732 Lobby cards covering Arab cinema from the 1940s to the 1990s is further complemented by a number of our holdings: a collection of 370 books, 333 press books, 1,372 photos, and 6 cinema magazine titles in 498 issues. It is a treasure trove for researchers interested in the history of performing arts and Arab cinema, but also in anthropology, cultural and gender studies, social science, visual and pop-culture, typography, translation studies, Arabic language, etc.
